Ciekawostki - AMW Hotele

  • The name of the town of Lublin derives from the word “Lubla”, which comes from the name Lubomir.
  • Lublin loves festivals! There are over 10 festivals that take place in the city throughout the year. These include International Dance Theatres Festival, Carnaval Sztuk-Mistrzów, or Falkon Fantasy Convent.
  • Lublin Science and Technology Park is a science and research centre investing in new technologies. The project was joined by Lublin universities, the Municipality of Lublin City, and the self-government of the voivodeship.
  • One of the dishes that you must try in Lublin are ‘pierogi’ with buckwheat, cottage cheese and bacon. It’s a local delicacy often tasted by tourists.

In the middle of the Market Square in Lublin, you can see the Crown Court, which was created at the end of the 16th century and was the highest instance court for the nobility of the Lesser Poland region. This site is linked to a legend. In 1637, a hearing took place there of a dispute between a poor widow and a rich magnate. Unfortunately, the judge issued an unfair judgment, and the magnate won. The poor woman shouted out that devils would have pronounced a fairer judgement than the judge. At night, unknown judges appeared in the Court and began to re-examine the case of the widow. They were devils! In their opinion, the widow turned out to be innocent. As a sign of their presence, the chairman devil burned out his handprint in the tabletop. Until now, this piece of furniture can be seen at the Castle Museum in Lublin.

  • Near Lublin, there are many beautiful places worth a visit. Only 52 kilometres separate the city from Kazimierz Dolny, and 27 – from the spa in Nałęczów.
